Rafael Soriano is looking solid as the closer for the New York Yankees
The Yankees signed 32-year old righty reliever Rafael Soriano to a 3-year, $35 million dollar contract two winters ago with the idea that he would eventually replace Rivera as the closer. Well, that time has come and he’s looking good. Soriano has pitched in 27 games (0 starts) for the Yankees so far this year and he is 2-0 with 13 saves, a 1.78 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. Soriano has now pitched in 69 games (0 starts) in his first two years with the Yankees and he is 4-3 with 15 saves, a 3.20 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. The Yankees need Soriano to keep up the good work.
