The New York Yankees acquire Sergio Mitre from the Brewers
The Yankees have acquired 30-year old righty reliever/starter Sergio Mitre from the Brewers for cash considerations. Mitre pitched in 22 games (0 starts) for the Brewers this year and he was 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. Mitre was just dealt to the Brewers before the season started for outfielder Chris Dickerson. Mitre pitched in 39 games (12 starts) for the Yankees in 2009 and 2010 and he was 3-6 with 1 save, a 5.03 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. Mitre has now pitched in 139 games (64 starts) in his 8 years in the majors and he is 13-30 with 1 save, a 5.13 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. This was a good move for the Yankees as Mitre has pitched pretty well the last couple of years and the team really needed bullpen help due to all of the injuries.
