27-year old lefty swinging LF Barry Gardner has caught fire with the bat in May after having a rough month in April. Gardner has played in 24 games so far in May and he is 24 for 68 (.353 avg, .864 OPS) with 13 runs scored, 6 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. He has now played in 47 games so far this year and he is 37 for 137 (.270 avg, .764 OPS) with 23 runs scored, 3 homers, 13 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. The Yankees are getting paid off for having patience with Gardner as he is really swinging a hot bat right now.
