Sean Williams is looking like a steal for the New Jersey Nets

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Rookie Report, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2007 at 1:22 am

The New Jersey Nets went into this year’s draft with an acute need for a big man in the paint so they took a chance on F/C Sean Williams who had serious issues off of the court and the move is starting to pay off. Williams has played in 23 games so far this season and he is averaging 19.8 minutes, 7.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Most of his shots come from close range which explains why he is hitting 54.6% from the floor but only 69.8% from the free throw line. Look for Williams to see a bump in playing time as long as he behaves and keeps playing well.

The New Jersey Nets need more from Antoine Wright

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 2:21 pm

Antoine Wright has not played well in December and the Nets need him to play better. Wright has played in 4 games (1 start) in December and he has averaged 27.0 minutes, 6.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Wright is also only shooting 32.3% from the floor and that is unacceptable. If he doesn’t start shooting better soon his minutes will start to diminish.

Vince Carter is off to a good start this month for the New Jersey Nets

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 2:12 pm

Vince Carter is starting to look like his old self in December so far. He has played in 6 games (5 starts) so far this month and he has averaged 38.5 minutes, 24.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists so far in December. The Nets need him to stay healthy because they have problems scoring when he is not on the court.

The New Jersey Nets are off to a rough start

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Game Recaps by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 2:09 pm

The New Jersey Nets are off to a rough start to the season as they are sitting at 9-12 which has them in third place in the Atlantic Division, 9 games behind the Celtics. They have had problems scoring points as they are averaging 90.5 points per game and they are allowing 96.8 points per game. The Nets will need players other than Richard Jefferson, Vince Carter and Jason Kidd to help out on offense or they could be in for a long season.

The New Jersey Nets need more from Krstic and Magloire

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Need to step up by alleyoop on Wednesday 5 December 2007 at 9:53 am

Nenad Krstic and Jamaal Magloire were being counted on to start at center and power forward for the Nets but they have been replaced due to poor play. Krstic has only played in 12 games this season and he’s only averaging 15.0 minutes, 4.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. He also is shooting a pathetic 32.9% from the floor and he will likely continue to lose playing time until he starts playing better. Jamaal Magloire has been even worse this season. He has played in only 10 games this season and he’s averaged 13.6 minutes, 1.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He is only shooting 18.5% from the floor so far this season and that’s flat out awful when you consider most of his shots come from close range.
