The New York Mets are off to a great start in 2012

The Mets are off to an outstanding start as they swept the Braves over the weekend. They outscored the Braves 12-7. The Mets hit .320 with a .872 OPS over the weekend, which is pretty impressive. David Wright was on fire as the was 6 for 9 (.667 avg, 1.692 OPS) with 1 run scored, 1 homer and 3 RBIs. Daniel Murphy was 5 for 13 (.385 avg, 1.044 OPS) with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs and Ruben Tejada was 4 for 11 (.364 avg, 1.007 OPS) with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs, gave the Mets some offensive zip in the middle infield over the weekend. RF Lucas Duda provided a lot of thump as he was 3 for 11 (.273 avg, 1.152 OPS) with 3 runs scored, 2 homers and 2 RBIs for the Mets. Catcher Josh Thole was 4 for 7 (.571 avg, 1.286 OPS) with 1 RBI last weekend. The Mets also pitched well as they had a 2.00 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. Johan Santana, Jonathon Niese and R.A. Dickey combined to go 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. New closer Frank Francisco slammed the door all weekend as he saved all three games against the Braves without giving up any runs. The 2-1 Washington Nationals will be paying the Mets a visit the next few days.
