The Knicks were outrebounded 40-33 and the Hawks shot 50.7% from the floor and those were the big reasons for the loss last night.  Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Knicks last night with 36 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Iman Shumpert was also pretty hot offensively as he finished up with 25 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 3 steals.  Landry Fields pitched in with 7 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in this game.  The Knicks are now 26-26 on the year.

Baron Davis has stepped up lately for the New York Knicks

With Jeremy Lin down to a knee injury, the Knicks have inserted 32-year old Baron Davis into the starting lineup and he has looked pretty solid.  In his last two games (both starts), Davis is averaging 29.5 minutes, 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  He has now played in 17 games (2 starts) for the Knicks overall this year and he is averaging 18.2 minutes, 5.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  But, Davis is only shooting 35.3% from the floor and 24.4% from three point range so far this year, and that just isn’t going to get it done.  The Knicks hope that Davis continues to play well until Lin returns to action.

The New York Knicks are getting solid production from their rookies this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Friday 30 March 2012 at 8:13 pm

21-year old SG/SF Iman Shumpert has played pretty solid basketball overall this year for the Knicks.  He has played in 44 games (20 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 27.5 minutes, 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game.  Shumpert is only shooting 39.2% from the floor this year, so he’s far from perfect.  The Knicks hope that Shumpert improves his outside shot and shot selection over the summer.  23-year old center Josh Harrellson has been solid, when healthy this year.  He has played in 27 games (3 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 15.7 minutes, 4.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Harrellson could see a bump in P.T. in the near future with Amare Stoudemire and Jared Jeffries down with injuries.  25-year old center Jerome Jordan hasn’t had much of a chance to show what he can do so far this year.  He has played in 18 games (0 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 4.4 minutes, 1.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.

The New York Knicks lose Amare Stoudemire indefinitely

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Tuesday 27 March 2012 at 1:40 pm

The Knicks will be without 29-year old power forward Amare Stoudemire indefinitely due to a bulging disk in his back.  Stoudemire has played in 43 games (all starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 33.2 minutes, 17.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  The Knicks are likely going to go with a smaller lineup until Stoudemire returns to action.  With that in mind, the Knicks are going to need Tyson Chandler and Carmelo Anthony to hit the boards really hard until Stoudemire is ready to play again.
